🌟 📖
The Workshop

The Jump Into Spanish Reading Adventure 🚀

One hour. Four unforgettable moments. Zero boring worksheets. Every activity is adapted for PreK, Kindergarten, or 1st grade — kids with extra support needs are always included, always celebrated.

📖

Story Time — Loud, Proud & Interactive

We don't just read the book — we live it. Kids join in on every page, acting out characters, guessing what comes next, and discovering that they can already read Spanish words. Energy is high from the very first sentence.

~15 minutes

The High-Energy Word Challenge — Get Up & Move!

The classroom becomes a giant Spanish literacy game. Kids work in teams to physically build words, solve sound puzzles, and race each other to master the letters. It's loud. It's silly. It absolutely works.

~20 minutes
✏️

The Young Reader's Lab — Cool Down & Create

Time to put it all together. Kids use activity sheets directly inspired by the book to practice their new Spanish reading skills on paper — bridging the gap between "we just played a game" and "I can actually read this."

~15 minutes
🏆

Show & Tell — We Did That!

We close by celebrating what every single kid accomplished. They share, cheer each other on, and leave with the confidence of a reader who knows they can do it. Teachers usually say this part gets them.

Meet Your Author

Hi, I'm Ashley! 👋🏾

Author · Literacy Advocate · Google Marketing Lead

I created ¡Vamos a Leer! because I couldn't find the right Spanish early readers for my own daughter, Ivory. As a proud Latina and African American mom, I built the series I wished existed — phonics-first, 100% Spanish, and full of stories that feel like home.

These four books are built the way kids actually learn to read: with repetition, movement, and joy. The workshops I run in schools bring those same ideas off the page — and into the hands of every child in the room.

Quick Questions

Things People Ask 🙋

Do students need to speak Spanish already?
Not at all! The session works for Spanish-speaking kids, English-speaking kids, and bilingual classrooms alike. The phonics-first approach makes Spanish accessible from the very first sound — no prior experience needed.
What grade levels work best?
The sweet spot is PreK through 1st grade (ages 4–6). Activities are adapted on the spot — a PreK class gets a different experience than a 1st grade class, even in the same school.
How long is the session and how much space do you need?
The workshop runs approximately 1 hour, though Ashley is flexible to fit your schedule. A standard classroom works fine — kids do move around, so just make sure there's room to push chairs back!
Do we need to prepare anything or buy supplies?
Zero. Nothing. Nada. Ashley brings everything — activity sheets, game materials, books, and any props. Schools provide the kids and the enthusiasm. That's it.
Can we order books for our students?
Yes! Ashley can coordinate discounted book orders for classrooms and families. Reach out when you book and she'll send the details. Books are also on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Bookshop.org.
Do you visit in summer or only during the school year?
Both! Summer is actually a great time to book — Ashley is available for summer camp guest speaker sessions, library summer reading programs, nonprofit literacy events, and community programs. Reach out early, summer spots fill up!
How far in advance should we book?
At least 4–6 weeks ahead is ideal, especially for October, April, and any summer programming. Don't hesitate to reach out with a closer date — Ashley will do her best to make it work.
